Message from Prof. N Muthukumar

NSSA President 2025-2026

Dear Friends,

At the outset, it is my duty to thank our mentor, Prof. P. S. Ramani, and all our members for bestowing this honour on me. I have been associated with this society since its inception and have participated in every annual conference. I have seen this society take its early steps under the able guidance of our Founder President, Prof. Ramani, and grow steadily to reach its present stature.

Over the past three decades, I have witnessed not only the remarkable advances in spinal surgery but also the impressive rise in the quality of papers presented at our meetings. One of the primary goals of our society is to train young neurosurgeons in both fundamental skills and the latest advances in our specialty. We have worked toward this by regularly conducting hands-on workshops, live operative sessions, and cadaver courses. To ensure our members remain up to date with emerging developments, we also conduct webinars once every three months.

Our collaboration with overseas colleagues—through participation in their meetings and by inviting them to share their work at ours—has further broadened our academic horizons. Our members continue to publish high-quality research in international journals, showcasing our collective contributions to the global community. Our journal, JOSS, is scaling new heights under the dedicated leadership of our editorial board and is now accredited by the DOAJ (Directory of Open Access Journals).

As is customary, our members will engage in educational and philanthropic activities on November 30th each year, celebrated as Neurospinal Day, in honour of the contributions of our mentor and Founder President, Prof. Ramani.

The beautiful city of Chandigarh will host the 29th Annual Meeting of our society from September 24th to 26th, 2026. The event will be organized by the team led by Prof. Pravin Salunke, a group known for both its hospitality and academic excellence. I am confident that we will enjoy a rich and rewarding academic experience at the forthcoming meeting.

My predecessors have raised the bar through their dedication and hard work. With your continued support and cooperation, I am certain that together we will take this society to even greater heights in the years ahead.

With best wishes for all your future endeavours.

Yours,

N  Muthukumar,
Madurai, India.
